In September 2009 Phoebe 'THE PHEEBSTER' was born. When Phoebe was between 12 & 18 months old it became apparent Phoebe was not meeting her development milestones. Phoebe had no eye contact, didn't respond to her name, didn't walk or talk. Getting her to play games was almost impossible.
Until this time I had bought her standard toys for her age range and she showed very little interest in them. After taking Phoebe to speech & language sessions , it became obvious that the way to communicating with Phoebe was in play and the right toys used was paramount.
I began hunting down toys similar to those used in the sessions. The internet was the best way to find them as the bigger high street toy stores just didn't seem cater for her needs. It wasn't long before Phoebe started to play with us and enjoy her toys. Phoebe began to respond and engage in play. I was as if someone had given me a key to unlock her personality.
After many disappointing shopping trips for birthdays and christmas, finding very little toys that suit Phoebe, it came to me that I could set up a website that sells the toys that children with autism & special education needs enjoy. And in May 2014 I launched the website.
I give all the items 'THE PHEEBSTER TEST' . If she loves them, we sell them!!
